Thanks to funding from Cheltenham Borough Council, Cheltenham Poetry Festival 2012 was a huge success!

Due to the funding from the Promoting Cheltenham Fund, the festival was able to reach out to the entire community and offered a wide range of free and cheaply priced workshops, readings, performances and other activities.

The festival worked extensively with community projects to engage with the elderly,

school children and the category NEET. (Not in Education, Employment or Training).

Workshops encouraged pupils who were seen as difficult to engage with, with low levels of literacy and short attention spans to enjoy the benefits of creative writing and explore poetry.

The festival’s Outreach workshops also formed social links between the elderly, disabled and the young – in innovative sessions that used poetry to improve health and well being.
