Joy Howard founded Grey Hen Press to celebrate the wit and wisdom of women, particularly older women. Since then her much-praised anthologies, including A Twist of Malice, Cracking On and Get Me out of Here! have won huge audiences up and down the country for their tough, tender, observant and laugh-out-loud funny take on modern life. Joy herself has been widely published in anthologies from such places as Virago, Headland and The Womens Press, and her first collection, Refurbishment, was published in 2011.

Required reading for all ages but especially for the young-and-grumpy-in-heart. This world, say these poets,  is not a better place. Deal with it, they say. Then they show us how. Read it! Penelope Shuttle.
